Originally raised by Klingon parents, orphaned at Khitomer outpost during 2346 massacre. Rescued by Chief Petty Officer Sergey Rozhenko of U.S.S. Intrepid (NCC-38907), raised by him and his wife as adopted son on farmworld Gault and on Earth. Worf was first Klingon to attend Starfleet Academy and join Starfleet. As of 2364, Worf held rank of lieutenant, junior grade, serving as flight control officer on U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D. After the death of Enterprise security chief Tasha Yar in late 2364, Worf promoted to full lieutenant, assigned as chief of security.In 2365, Worf and special Federation Emissary KΓÇÖEhleyr successfully intercepted a potentially hostile Klingon sleeper ship dating to before the Klingon-Federation peace accords. In 2366, Worf accepted Klingon discommendation to protect his newly-discovered biological brother Kurn from death penalty stemming from charges their Klingon father had been a traitor. In late 2367, discommendation reversed by Emperor Gowron for WorfΓÇÖs support during Klingon Civil War. Worf temporarily resigned Starfleet commission to participate in the conflict, but returned to duty, 2368. In 2369, Worf, with Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Dr. Beverly Crusher, undertook unsuccessful covert mission to Celtris III to investigate possible Cardassian metagenic weapons, which turned out to be a false trap to capture Picard. Later in 2369, Worf disccovered a clone of Kahless, ancient Klingon spiritual leader, created by priests on monastery planet Boreth. Worf convinced High Council Leader Gowron to install Kahless as ceremonial Emperor, averting social unrest in Empire.In 2371, Worf promoted to lieutenant commander. Following Enterprise-D destruction, Worf spent year at Boreth before accepting assignment in 2372 to strategic operations officer on Deep Space 9. Worf refused to join Klingon invasion of Cardassia, made persona non grata by Chancellor Gowron. On Stardate 49648, Worf had extradition hearing to stand trial with Klingon government for allegedly killing 441 civilians in U.S.S. Defiant attack on unarmed transport. Worf exonerated when vessel proved unmanned, and charges false. In 2373, Worf went on covert mission with other DS9 personnel and discovered changeling infiltration of Klingon High Council, ending Federation-Klingon conflict.
On Stardate 50893, Worf commanded U.S.S. Defiant in the Starfleet armada that intercepted a Borg cube at Sector 001. Worf and crew were beamed aboard the Enterprise-E when Defiant was crippled; Worf served as tactical officer, assisted crew in repelling Borg assimilation of Enterprise and attempt to assimilate Earth in its past of 2063.During conflict with Dominion-Cardassian Alliance in 2374, Worf aborted mission to rescue Cardassian defector to take his critically-injured wife, Lieutenant Commander Dax, to receive medical attention. Received permanent demerit for dereliction of duty.
